Meet Tío Jeremy
Jeremy (he/him)
Hey there! I’m Jeremy. I love being outdoors and have a big appreciation for animals, especially bugs, reptiles, and amphibians. That’s what I’m probably best known for among both kids and parents!
My background comes from a mix of personal passion and formal study in wildlife biology, with a focus on herpetology (reptiles and amphibians) and entomology (insects). I enjoy helping children learn about the many creatures that live around us and how to interact with them safely and respectfully, or when it’s best to simply observe and leave them be.
I spent about two years in Arcata, California attending Humboldt State University to study wildlife biology. During that time, I had the incredible opportunity to explore the redwood forests and surrounding ecosystems. Even though I had to return home before finishing my degree, that experience gave me invaluable hands-on learning—spending time outdoors every day, discovering salamanders, newts, snakes, insects, plants, and more. It really deepened my appreciation for the natural world and all the life within it.
I also have a degree in welding and a background in sculpture, which I enjoy bringing into occasional creative projects with the kids. Along the way, I’ve taken a variety of natural history courses and spent time camping and exploring Southern California’s high desert, learning about the region’s unique plants and wildlife.
I’m excited to share my curiosity and enthusiasm for nature, and to help kids build their own connections with the world around them!
