Meet Tía Sameera

Sameera Saba is an auntie to six niblings and began working with kids since she was in high school when she worked with a popular education program in Pico Union/Westlake. In 2012 she had her first chance at working with plants in a community garden in Boyle Heights, this led to the study of ecology and plants until present day. Currently she works as a garden teacher with kids in the public schools of Northeast LA where she incorporates culture, ecology, history, nutrition, and art into the outdoor classroom. She has been working plant care in people's home gardens since 2020 and specializes in native Southern California plants. She believes our wellbeing is rooted in our freedom to relate to the land in a reciprocal way and wishes to amplify her contribution to the struggle for land sovereignty for all life.
