Meet Tía Maya
My name is Maya Vidal, and I am so excited to be part of your child’s learning environment. I hold an educational background in film from Cal State LA, where I developed a deep appreciation for creativity, storytelling, and thoughtful observation skills that continue to shape how I engage with children today. I believe curiosity and imagination are powerful tools in early learning, and I love encouraging children to express themselves in meaningful ways.
I have also spent time as a case management worker supporting families and youth in inner-city communities in South Central Los Angeles. This experience strengthened my understanding of the importance of patience, empathy, and meeting each child where they are. It taught me how vital safe, nurturing spaces are for children to feel seen, supported, and confident as they grow.
Outside of work, one of my greatest passions is Aztec dancing, a cultural practice I have been involved in since childhood. Aztec dance has taught me discipline, community, and respect for tradition, and it continues to be a grounding and joyful part of my life. I love sharing my appreciation for culture, movement, and strive to bring that sense of warmth, connection, and balance into the classroom every day.
